Four heavily armed guerrillas crossed the LoC late Sunday night in Baramulla district and were challenged immediately by the army, an official spokesman said.

"The intruders opened fire on the troops of 14 Bihar regiment. The fire was returned and a sustained gunfight ensued that lasted till the early hours of the morning," Lt Col AK Mathur, spokesman of 15 Corps, told IANS.

"Security forces recovered bodies of four infiltrators in the morning."

This is the second infiltration bid at the LoC in the last two days. Four guerrillas were gunned down on Sunday by the army in Machil sector of north Kashmir.
