Four AK-47 rifles, three wireless sets, a mobile phone and a satellite phone were recovered from their possession.

Three of them were from Pakistan while one was a Kashmiri.

"They were killed during a joint operation launched by the Army and the state police against a terrorist hideout at Gambhir Moghula, a densely forested area," an Army spokesman said.

"This is a big blow to the terrorists," he added.

One Pakistani was identified as Abu Hamza, the financial controller and area commander of the Jaish south of the Pir Panjal range. The two other Pakistanis were identified as Abu Mehtab, a district commander, and Abu Umar, an explosives expert.
