Four Maoists held in Orissa

Four Maoists, allegedly involved in the assassination of VHP leader Laxamananda Saraswati, have been arrested in Rayagada district of Orissa, police said on Saturday.

The arrests were made by security personnel engaged in anti-naxalite operation in the dense forests of Tembaguda, about 120 km from here yesterday, Nilakantha Patra, inspector-in-charge of the police station said.

The Maoists dentified as Suna Gandalaka, Dhobai Kadraka, Bhapei Praska and Gopala Pidikaka of nearby villages were allegedly involved in a number of crimes, including the killing of the VHP leader in 2008 and Nayagarh attack in 2007.

The personnel had seized a land mine, explosive substances, Maoists literatures and banners from the ultras, Patra said.
