A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl was mercilessly attacked with a sharp edged blade on her provate parts in Saraiyah area in Jaitpura on Friday late at night. The unconscious girl was found on the banks of Dhobia Ghat in the wee hours today. It is also alleged that the victim was raped. The identity of the attacker remains a mystery.
She has been admitted to the government hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case under Section 324. Irate locals blocked the Kajjajpura-Ashapur Road for several hours, and later lifted it after assurance of police to nab the culprit at the earliest.
The girl along with her two sisters, seven and three-year-old daughters of a poor weaver, were asleep in the house. When, one of the sisters got up late at night, she found one sister was missing. The father and locals launched a search operation and found the girl on the bank of a river at 4 am.
Minor crushed to death: An eight-year-old girl was crushed to death by a dumper near Patvarvan village in Sarnath on Saturday. The deceased girl has been identified as Pooja Maurya. Irate locals ransacked the dumper and set it ablaze. Driver of dumper was beaten up by the violent mob. Later, locals handed over the driver to police. The police sent the driver to hospital for treatment and medical examination. Later, the agitated mob staged a chakka-jam throwing vehicular traffic out of gear for more than two hours.
The locals were demanding compensation for the bereaved family members. Police rushed to the spot and pacified the matter.
Tourist dies: A Spanish tourist around 35-years-old died of cardiac arrest on his way to the local airport on Friday. After the post-mortem examination, his body was consigned to flames in the electric crematorium at the Harish Chandraghat amid presence of administrative officials on Saturday evening. Post-mortem report is awaited. The deceased is identified as Alberto Sang Duke.
A group of five Spanish tourists had arrived in the city a few days back. They had stayed in a hotel in Cantonment area. The group was going to the airport on Friday afternoon to catch a Delhi bound flight when Alberto felt some pain in his chest.
