A new wave of explosions rocked southern parts of Baghdad on Wednesday, as US-led forces appeared to target Iraqi forces dug in to defend the capital, the agency said.

The agency correspondent Samia Nakhoul said she heard several blasts to the south of the city.
She said high winds were tearing through the capital, whipping up dust storms and uprooting some trees near the Tigris River. Visibility was said to be very poor.
