Gang of car lifters busted in Faridabad, one held
The Faridabad Police on Monday claimed to have busted a gang of car lifters in Delhi-NCR and arrested a member of a Mewati gang in this connection, Prabhu Razdan reports.

The police recovered 22 vehicles stolen in Delhi, Ghaziabad and other NCR towns from different areas.
The police arrested one Shahid from Faridabad’s Sector 4 area on May 4, 2013 soon after he stole a car from Sarai Kwaja area. Nadeem, the kingpin of the gang, is yet to be arrested.
The police said the gang had adopted a unique modus operandi. The gangsters, the police said, first used to purchase second hand/condemned vehicles not costing more than Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. Then, they used to steal new vehicles in Delhi/NCR area. After this, they would use the registration and chassis numbers of the purchased second hand/condemned vehicles on the stolen vehicles and put them on sale.
“We have recovered 22 vehicles such as Santro, Honda city, Wagon R, Alto, Maruti 800, Indigo, Indica from different areas of Faridabad stolen by this gang from different parts of Delhi/NCR”, said Anil Kumar, who is in charge the Crime Investigation Agency, Badarpur border.
“The recovery process continues as chances of recovery of more stolen cars cannot be ruled out,” Kumar said, adding efforts are on to nab other gang members. Kumar said the gang would park the stolen cars in parking lots of Delhi/NCR and renovate the stolen vehicles at their workshop.
In Faridabad, vehicle thefts generally take place in areas falling under Surajkund and central police stations.
