Ganga rising in eastern UP districts
THE WATER level of Ganga is constantly rising in different districts of Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, Phaphamau, Allahabnad, Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Ballia.

In Varanasi, several ghats were submerged in flood water and connection between ghats was broken. Shopkeepers had shifted their makeshift shops to safer places apprehending flood.
Local people residing at the banks of Ganga and Varuna rivers were also engaged in making arrangements in case water rose further. The water level was also increasing in the drains interconnected with the two rivers.
As per the CWC report, the water level recorded was at 64.180 metres in Varanasi on Thursday morning. The highest water level of Ganga here has so far been 73.901 metre recorded in the year 1978. The danger mark in Varanasi is 71.262 metres.
In Phaphamau, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 78.890 metre on Thursday morning. The highest flood mark of Ganga was 87.980 metre in the year 1978. The danger mark of Ganga in this district is 84. 734 metre.
In Allahabad, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 76.210 metres on Thursday morning. The highest flood level in this district was 88.030 in the year 1978. The danger mark of Ganga here is 84.734 meter.
Similarly in Mirzapur, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 68.870 meter on Thursday morning. The highest flood mark was 80.340 in the year 1978. The danger mark of Ganga water is 77.724 meter.
In Ghazipur district, the water level of Ganga was recorded 58.350 metres on Thursday morning. The highest flood level was 65.220 metres in the year 1978 and danger mark of Ganga water is 63.105 metres.
Ballia district was also witnessing rise in Ganga water and was recorded at 55.000 metres.
