Gas leakage in Surat after pipeline rupture

Panic gripped the Bhari Mata locality in Surat on Tuesday when a pipeline of Gujarat Gas Company ruptured leading to gas leakage in the vicinity, police said.

Panic gripped the Bhari Mata locality in Surat on Tuesday when a pipeline of Gujarat Gas Company ruptured leading to gas leakage in the vicinity, police said.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and an emergency response team from the company was pressed into service at the site to control the leakage, they said.

The incident triggered panic in the area that comes under the Katargam police station. There were no casualties in the incident, police said.

According to company officials the gas passing from the ruptured pipeline has been re-routed and repairs are underway.
