Girl attempts suicide after being allegedly molested

A teenaged girl allegedly attempted suicide after being molested by a youth at Sumannagar locality of Rajpur area here, police today said.

A teenaged girl allegedly attempted suicide after being molested by a youth at Sumannagar locality of Rajpur area here, police said on Thursday.

Police arrested Ranjan Arora (20), who runs a computer centre in the neighbourhood of the girl, after registering a case of molestation against him.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Oct 19 and 20 when the girl was alone in the house and Arora allegedly barged into her house and molested her. On hearing her screams, neighbours reached the spot and apprehended the accused.

Meanwhile, the girl allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance on Wednesday. She was taken to the government-owned Doon Hospital where her condition is stated to be stable.
