All through the day inside the court complex on Monday, Dr Nupur Talwar was seen reciting from a copy of Hanuman Chalisa.

Her family members, including her husband Dr Rajesh Talwar, remained seated next to her the entire day. They updated her regularly and were seen consoling her often.

Nupur's counsel GP Tareja made references to the Hindu mythology and said Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are the creator, preserver and destroyer, respectively.

He said that Dr Nupur Talwar was a mother and had no reasons to kill her child whom she gave birth to.

"She is innocent and cannot be the destroyer to her child," the counsel told the court.
