The celebrations would begin with the Governor Dr Kamla and Chief Minister Narendra Modi paying homage to the martyr of Gujarat, and father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
They will also felicitate the family members of those who sacrificed their lives during the Maha Gujarat movement.
Modi would also lay the foundation stone of the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar and later in the day there would be a cultural programme at the Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad showcasing the history, present and future of Gujarat.
State government has organised a number of programmes and events in order to involve the people of the state in the mass celebrations of the golden jubilee year of the state's foundation.
While the government is all set for mega-celebrations, the opposition Congress has decided to boycott the programmes alleging that the Modi government was not involving them in the celebrations. They also alleged that Congress party was not consulted on Golden jubilee celebrations matters.
