The decision to this effect was taken after the meeting of principal secretary environment Mathew Jackson with the officials of LMC and the State Pollution Control Board.
Special secretary urban development SP Singh was also present in the meeting.
The principal secretary pulled up the State Pollution Control Board and the LMC for not checking the smuggling of Polythene from Nepal into the city. Sources say Lucknow is a big market for the polythenes coming from Nepal. All these polythenes are lesser than 20 microns which are banned in the city.
LMC officials blamed State Pollution Board for not banning 39 units, which are operating inside the residential areas. The power to seize the units lies with the State Pollution Control Board.
These 39 units were identified during the joint drive by LMC and Pollution control Board in December 2005.
