Govt mulling charging rent from army

The Jammu and Kashmir government today said the army had illegally occupied 170 acres of land at famous hill resort Gulmarg and it was mulling charging rent from them.

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said the army had illegally occupied 170 acres of land at famous hill resort Gulmarg and it was mulling charging rent from them.

Replying to a call attention motion in the Legislative Council, Youth Services and Sports Minister R S Chib said the army had "illegally" occupied 170 acres of land at Gulmarg.

"For assessment of rent of this land, a case has been submitted by the Gulmarg Development Authority which is under consideration of the government," he said.

The notice for the call attention motion was given by Ajay Kumar Sadhotra of the ruling National Conference.
