Govt to honour 15 Punjabi litterateurs

The Haryana Punjabi Sahitya Akademi will honour 15 litterateurs for their works in Punjabi language at a function at Haryana Raj Bhawan here on June 17.

The Haryana Punjabi Sahitya Akademi will honour 15 litterateurs for their works in Punjabi language at a function at Haryana Raj Bhawan here on June 17.

Haryana Punjabi Gaurav Puraskar would be conferred on Harbhajan Singh Renu of Sirsa posthumously; Mahakavi Bhai Santokh Singh Puraskar would be given to Karamjit Singh of Kurukshetra; Baba Sheikh Farid Puraskar would be given to Surender Singh Oberoi of Faridabad; Sant Taran Singh Vehmi Puraskar would be awarded to Jagir Kaur Sandhu of Ellenabad; and Lok Gayak Puraskar to Joginder Singh Mukta of Jagamlera village, Sant Nagar, chief minister's additional principal secretary KK Khandelwal said in a release on Tuesday.

For poetry, Pustak Puraskar will be given to Sushila Sargam, while Harsimran Kaur will be awarded for story. For novel writing, Prem Singh Barnalvi will get the award. Pradyumn Bhalla and Manjit Kaur Ambalvi will be awarded for play and child literature, respectively. Puran Singh Nirala will get the award for folk literature.

Rachnatmak Lekh Puraskar will be given to Upendrajit Kaur. Preetma Domail, Subhash Saluja and Angrej Singh, will get the first, second and third prizes in Punjabi story writing, respectively.
