Govt to invite suggestions for better transport system

THE STATE Government will invite suggestions from experts to ensure better public transport system in the State in wake of dissolution of State Transport Corporation. Systems in other states will also be studied and a final decision in this regard is likely to be taken by the month end. The government will approach IIT Delhi, IIM, Ahmedabad and subject experts regarding a new public transport system.

Chairing a meeting at Mantralaya on Monday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stressed the need for ensuring better public transport system in all the areas, including far-off. He directed to present suggestions in this regard within the specified time limit. Transport Minister Himmat Kothari assured to take proper action.

It was decided that the contract buses would continue to ply even after winding up of the MPRTC. Besides, it has been proposed to operate deluxe and AC buses on major routes. Smooth transportation system is proposed for plying of vehicles in rural areas for convenience of people.
