Police across the state are keeping an eye on former SIMI workers, who were associated with the organisation before it was banned. Bharuch, Surat and Vadodara police have also detained some of them for questioning.

"We have detained several SIMI workers from the city and their interrogation is in progress," Joint commissioner of Police Ashish Bhatia said.

The city crime branch continued raids at various locations for the third consecutive day.

"We had conducted some overnight raids too," Bhatia said without revealing further details.

Abdul Halim, a SIMI activist arrested by the city crime branch after the Ahmedabad serial blasts, has been remanded to police custody till August 10 and will be undergoing a lie-detector test, crime branch officials said.

During his interrogation, police found that he had links with one Abdul Karim Tunda, who is wanted for 1993 blasts in Mumbai and Hyderabad and other cases and is absconding, officials said.
