Gujarat rains | 9 killed, 5,600 evacuated

Nine people have been killed and over 5,600 have been evacuated to safer areas in the state over last two days.

Nine persons were killed in various parts of Gujarat and more than 5,600 were evacuated in Navsari district due to heavy rains in the last two days.

The administration has issued an alert as two rivers Poorna and Kaveri in south Gujarat were flowing above the danger mark, officials said.

Three people were killed in Ahmedabad, three in Surat, one in Sabarkantha district and two in Gandhinagar, officials added.

In Navsari, more than 5,600 people were evacuated from the low-lying areas surrounding river Poorna and Kaveri, District Collector RC Meena said.
