Muthuvattil Abdul, 38, father of four from Malapuram district of Kerala has undergone a second operation in a Bahrain hospital where doctors said he was on way to recovery.

News reports said despite the agony, Abdul was laughing in his hospital bed recalling the incident that took place on September 12, and said he did not want police action taken against his friend identified only as Shams.

A doctor at Manama's Salmaniya Medical Complex said Abdul was lucky to have survived the prank.

The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and the Christian Charitable and Social Association (CCSA) have come forward to help Abdul, whose only worry is about his job.
