Guv, CM discuss infiltration, rising militancy

The recent attempts of infiltration at the Line of Control (LoC) and the increasing militant activities figured in the meeting of governor NN Vohra and chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday.

According to official spokesman, Abdullah met Vohra, at Raj Bhavan in the morning. "They discussed various issues relating to the continuing infiltration attempts across the LoC in both Kashmir and Jammu regions and the incidence of terrorist activities in the past two months," said the spokesman.

The chief minister also briefed the governor about certain steps being taken for securing more effective internal security management and for enhancing the pace of implementation of development projects, he added.

The meeting has come in the backdrop of increasing attempts by militants to cross into the Valley ahead of winters. According to the army, around 30 militants have been killed in separate operations near the LoC in the past three months.

Besides, militant attacks have gone up in the Valley. Around 30 security personnel were killed since March this year. Same number of security personnel also lost their lives in militant attacks since March.
