Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra has complimented all senior functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides for their efforts in the past five years, resulting in a good number of boys and girls being inducted into the scouts and guides movement in the state.

He said the activities of scouts and guides must be taken to the remote of the state.

Vohra, who is the patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, was conferred with the Silver Elephant Award 2011-12, the highest national award of scouting and guiding in the country, by President Pranab Mukherjee. The governor was awarded for being instrumental in the promotion of scouting and guiding activities in the state.

In a statement, the governor said the award was the recognition of the work put in by all those associated with the movement in the state, and referred to the endeavours of NA Khan, state chief commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides; ID Soni, state commissioner of the organisation; Roma Wani, senior vice-president; Nasreen Khan, commissioner; guides; trainers; rangers; rovers, scouts; and guides.

The governor expressed satisfaction that a large number of scouts and guides from Jammu and Kashmir divisions were qualifying for the Rajya Puraskar every year and a number of them receiving the Rashtrapati Award.

Referring to the 43 scouts and guides having qualified for the Rajya Puraskar 2013 from the Kashmir division, the Vohra hoped that a significant number of scouts and guides from the Jammu division would also qualify for the award, as in the past.
