Gyanwapi security to be upgraded

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday afternoon, the ADG said the government was leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the security of religious spots.

Speaking on the security of sensitive Gyanwapi complex, he said a fresh proposal of Rs 6 crore had been formulated for the purchase of necessary security equipment to upgrade security of the complex.

Besides, a request was being made to the authorities of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation to provide round the clock power supply to the complex from security point of view.

Prior to it, he held a quarterly meeting of high level permanent committee, meant for security of sensitive Gyanwapi complex. Officials who participated in the meeting, included Karam Veer Singh, IG (CRPF), Shailja Kant Mishra, IG (PAC), RP Singh, DIG (Security) and other high administrative officials of Varanasi.

Elaborate discussions were held by the participating officials over security of red and yellow zones of the complex in the wake of growing terrorist strikes in the country.

The ADG also visited the sensitive Gyanwapi complex and inspected minutely each and every corner of the red zone in the complex and all security points.
During the inspection, the ADG was accompanied with the DIG (Security) and IG, AC Sharma for Varanasi zone, DIG, RN Yadav for Varanasi range and the SSP Ashutosh Pandey.
