Leading information storage device maker Seagate Technologies on Wednesday launched a range of hard disk drives targeted at the video security market.

The hard drive named "SV35" will be available in three storage capacities of 160 GB, 250 GB and 500 GB and is priced between Rs 4,200-16,000.

The drives in the new range could store up to 23 days of continuous video recording.

"SV35 series is specifically designed for optimal performance in commercial video security market. It enables storage of a large amount of digital video data besides providing fast access and review of recorded video," Seagate Country Manager India and SAARC countries Rajesh Khurana told reporters here.

He said "there is a huge demand for digital video surveillance equipments and Indian market has great potential for such devices which the company is introducing".

The video surveillance equipment market worldwide was estimated to be USD 4.5 billion with an average growth rate of about 18 per cent, he said.

Seagate Technologies today also introduced its new expanded desktop hard drive built on perpendicular recording technology.

The expanded version of the drive has a capacity of 750 GB and is priced over Rs 26,000.

He said it would meet the growing demands of storage capacity and performance and reliability.
