Haryana government to celebrate the centenary of national song in all schools of the state on September 7.

Haryana Government has decided to celebrate the centenary of national song Vande Mataram in all schools of the state on September 7.

Students will take out 'prabhatpheris' on September 7 throughout the state and they would also sing the song during the morning prayer meetings before the schools starts, Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said.

The heads of the institutions and teachers would deliver lectures to students in their respective schools regarding the history of the song, he said. Quiz contests on the song would also be held in the schools.

The national song was written by author Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875 and it played a significant role in infusing freedom fighters with a spirit of patriotism during the national freedom movement.
