WILL UP find place in this year's Republic Day parade in the national capital? The question arises as there has been no written clearance to UP's R-Day parade tableau while the countdown for its preparation has already begun. A senior officer of the Information Department has received a call about the “rejection” of UP's tableau.

The expert committee of the Defence Ministry had cleared the model of the tableau that the Information Department had sent to Delhi. The model got clearance in all the six rounds. However, the news regarding its final clearance has not reached Lucknow, an official of the department said. The State Information Department has not got any written clearance so far. Going by past experience, the clearance should have come by now.

Sources in the department said that UP had always got clearance to display its tableau at the parade. Significantly, last year UP's tableau 'Barsane Ki Holi' had bagged the third prize. This years theme of UP's tableau is 'Tharu tribe'.

“The expert committee passed UP tableau's model, theme and music, but we are not aware about its final clearance. A senior officer in the department over the telephone was informed that UP's tableau has been rejected this time. No written rejection has been received at the department so far. And if the tableau has been rejected, we don't even have information as on what grounds it has been rejected. Now under the situation, it is getting late for the department to make preparations for the tableau,” the source said.
