The criminal revision petition challenges the Raisen district court order of December 6, 2005, permitting the State Government to withdraw the criminal case of rioting against Chouhan and others in ‘public interest’.

Justice Manjusha Namjoshi allowed the prayer of the counsel appearing for the CM and others seeking more time to file the reply. On request of the government, the court would hear the case anytime after the summer vacation of the high court is over in June.

The Raisen police in 1996 had registered a criminal case against Chouhan and 18 others for rioting. The incident took place near the office of divisional forest officer Gauharganj in Raisen district where the BJP workers led by Chouhan staged road-blocked and held demonstration that allegedly turned violent.
