Earlier, MLC Dr YD Singh, had raised the issue in the Council and expressed concern that even after confirmation of deadly Coxsackie virus in most of the patients’ samples, medical officials took no initiative to provide assistance to them.
He lashed out at the administration for maintaining that after mass anti-JE vaccination, the disease was well under control in the division. Dr Singh said the flow of patients had been contained only due to scanty rain. Meanwhile, the cognizance taken by the Allahabad High Court of the neglect by the State government of the issue has further increased the worries of the administration.
In its directive to the principal secretary and director general, Health on Tuesday, the High Court ordered them to appear in the court on September 12 with detailed report on JE and other viruses causing death to innocent patients.
