Heat: Worse yet to come, say experts

Predicting still worse conditions, the weather experts have concluded that the temperature might soar to as high as 48 degrees Celsius.
According to Dr SS Ojha, climatologist and teacher in Geography Department, Allahabad University, "The prevailing temperature should have actually resulted in the second and third week of May but we are experiencing it quite earlier on account of some past conditions. The western disturbances which used to arrive in North-West regions of India between the end of January and beginning of February actually arrived late. Their late arrival caused less rainfall in winters and earth was not able to retain sufficient moisture which has led to more dry conditions and has resulted in rise in temperature". The weather will remain such atleast till the month of June.
While detailing about the frequent dust storms which the citizens are facing these days, Dr Ojha said, they result on account of the collision of winds from east and west. Storms bring down the temperature but the phenomena is temporary and thus fails to offer long-lasting respite from high temperature.
"The temperature is likely to rise upto 48 degrees and this will cause good rainfall during Monsoon," he added.
HN Mishra, HoD Geography, Allahabad University, said the rise in temperature is also the result of earth's proximity to the Sun which is coming closer to Tropic of Cancer and June 21 will be the longest day.
"Nothing unusual about such weather and in fact continuity of such conditions will help in very good rainfall this year," he added.
