Heavy rains lash Saurasthra region

Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed many parts in Saurashtra region while Junagadh district has recorded maximum rainfall affecting road traffic to the district.

Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed many parts in Saurashtra region while Junagadh district has recorded maximum rainfall affecting road traffic to the district.

Junagadh district has received heavy downpour in last 24 hours in which Kodinar recorded nearly 15 inches, while Bagasara and Kukavav in Amreli district and many parts in Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot and Bhavnagar also received moderate rainfall.

Bhadar dam the main sources of providing drinking water to people of Rajkot received fresh four feet rain water, while nearly eight dams in Junagadh district overflowed.

Shingwada river in Kodinar flowing over with flooded water disrupted road traffic while many local trains were running behind the scheduled.

People living in low laying areas in Kodinar have been alerted but no evacuation has been made so far, sources from the district authority said.

Despite of heavy rain in Saurashtra region no rain related casuality was reported so far, sources said.
