Senior superintendent of police Raja Srivastav made this statement at a press conference at Gorakhpur Press Club here on Tuesday. He said that police did not have a magic wand to check the crime rate. Raja laid stress on the need for police- people cooperation and said that the police should take people into confidence. He also said that the help line would give women and children a great relief.
In the first phase, the help line would be linked with the police control room number 100 and in the second phase, a separate office would set up, he added.
In reply to a question regarding traffic jam which had become a regular feature in the district, he said that police personnel drafted a plan and 50 home guard jawans would be deployed to keep the manage traffic at various crossings.
The cases of dowry, harassment would also be checked, he added. Raja said that police personnel should be familiar with computer and other electronic equipment as the scenario of crime had changed. Responding to a question, he said that sale of illicit liquor and drug-pedaling could be checked only with the people’s
cooperation.
