Turn back time and walk into an old British house, with warm throw rugs and place an order for fish n chips; or enter another time warp into the 70s punk rock era in central London, as eating out becomes innovative in the city. With some of the newly launched cafes going all out on inspiring decor, we list a few where you can head for an unusual dining experience. Taking a break from the regular table-chair set up, many dining places in the city are upping the quirk factor to make dining out more fun. “Decor is a critical element in defining the character and also adds to the overall excitement. A theme decor definitely defines the overall perception of the restaurant,” says Rakhi Yadav, director of The Bikers Cafe. Go ahead, take your pick from sipping on a Pina Colada, wearing leis in a Hawaiian inspired cafe, or munching on a pizza while leafing through a book and reclining on a chair carved from a tree stump!

Bora Bora Tiki Bar

USP: The earthy lighting, eclectic shell chandeliers and blowfish shaped lamps. Here, coconuts, quirky cane furniture, colourful leis, fruit-laden wooden bowls and potted plants are sure to transport you to the scenic archipelago. The native Hawaiian masks and straw hats make for an interesting ambience. For some oceanic fun and food, head to Southern Park, D-2 Saket.
The Bikers Café
Theme: An earthy tavern for the bike aficionados
USP: Wall hangings made of motorcycle parts such as the headlight. With sprocket brake, distressed benches, leather stools with motorcycle inspired shock absorbers and vintage sign plates, the decor stays true to the cafe’s name.
