Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister VB Singh on Sunday denied having made "derogatory" remarks against Prime Minister AB Vajpayee, as reported in the media recently.

In a statement issued in Shimla, Singh described these reports as "totally incorrect and a political move" to charge Himachal's political atmosphere against the Congress before the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

It was also a crude attempt to belittle his image and throttle the successful election campaign which had unnerved the BJP, he said adding "such words are being put into my mouth which I have not even spoken."

The growing popularity of the Congress had baffled the BJP and its leaders were resorting to "malicious, unethical and abusive propaganda" but the people would not be misled by it and give an appropriate rebuff to the BJP at the husting, he said in the statement.
