Himesh to concentrate on acting now
The music composer has returned the signing amount of as many as 16 films. Vajir Singh tells more.
Music composers benefit as Himesh Reshammiya goes slow on projects
Music directors are smiling these days. They are getting projects that would have otherwise gone to Himesh Reshammiya. The Aashiq banaya composer is going slow on music projects as he’s concentrating on his acting debut.

His decision to return the signing amount of as many as 16 films has only amplified their glee. Upcoming music director Mithoon, who rose to fame with Onir Ban’s Bas Ek Pal, was among the first to benefit. Shyam Bajaj’s The Train, the music for which was to be done by Reshammiya, has now gone to him. Ask him about it, and he accepts it.
“Offers are pouring in after the success of my song Tere bin. But I’ve my own style of working. As I’m an arranger and programmer, I take time to record the music. Hence, I won’t accept every project that comes my way,” he says. “Apart from The Train I haven’t accepted any projects so far but negotiation are on,” he adds.
After being in the shadows for several years, Anand Raaj Anand is “flooded with several big projects”. He does not deny he’s on the comeback trail thanks to Reshammiya.
“A part of the credit for my return definitely goes to Himesh. He’s popular and has overshadowed others. Other music directors will benefit with his decision,” he says adding, “Negotiations are on for more projects.”
Aashiq Banaya Aapne director Aditya Datt, who is also Reshammiya’s friend, says that though others are getting work, “Himesh will continue to rule the charts with maximum hits and movies”.
While Datt has three directorial ventures in the coming year, Reshammiya will score music for only one of them. “He’s too busy. I’m planning to sign different music directors for my other two projects,” he says.
