Hizb top commander surrenders in J&K

The officials say the surrender is another achievement for security forces, after the killing of Billoo Gujjar.

A top commander of the Hizbul Mujahedeen was among the two terrorists who surrendered before security forces in mountainous Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said that Hizbul area commander Mohammad Sharif alias Osama and his close associate Tariq surrendered before army and police in Gool area, about 180 km north of Jammu.

The two also laid down their weapons before the security officials.

The officials described the surrender as another achievement for security forces in the area after the killing of Billoo Gujjar, top Hizbul man early in November.
