Holi a festival of unity
A HOLI Milan function was organised by Sri Varshney Sabha in an enthusiastic and colourful manner. The event started with lighting of lamps by Commissioner of Allahabad Division Dr Lalit Verma, who was the chief guest. While inaugurating the programme, he said that India was a land of fairs and festivals but the festival of Holi was different as it brought people closer. He emphasised that Varshney Sabha must work for the welfare of society while evolving itself as the most developed Sabha.
District Judge (retired) D P Varshney, while welcoming the guests and others, said that such ceremonies facilitated the bonding of people with their society and also helped to clear doubts and malpractices prevailing in society. Engineer R N Varshney presided over the programme.
Senior vice president of the Sabha Kishore Varshney, who conducted the programme, said Holi consisted of colours, happiness and joy and also symbolised unity. Such events helped in inculcating a feeling of fraternity among people.

Shashi Varshney proposed the vote of thanks while treasurer Gyanendra Varshney welcomed the guests and other distinguished persons. Bharat Bhushan presented mementos to Dr Verma. Earlier, Dr Verma garlanded the portrait of Akrurji, Kul Pravartak of the Varshney community.
A welcome song was presented by cultural secretary Vipin Varshney and others. Several other cultural events also took place which enthralled the audience.
Leena Varshney and others presented the national anthem. Others who expressed their views were SP city RPS Yadav, CO (I) Rajesh Chaurasia, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, Dr R K Paramhansh, Harikesh Tripathi, Smt Indu Varshney, Rajiv Varshney and Kamlesh Mishra.
