Ministers, legislators of the ruling Congress and PCC leader AV Subramanian also paid homage.

Silence was observed by all those present at the venue for a couple of minutes in memory of the leader.

A music team from 'Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam' (a multi disciplinary institution run by Puducherry government) presented devotional songs, while representatives of the Hindu, Islamic and Christian religions read out excerpts from their religious books.

Earlier, Subramanian led partymen in paying homage to the late leader at the Congress office.
