Enough reasons to hope that the near future for India is reasonably bright.
Despite hiccups, the share price indices are ending the year at unprecedented levels, and varying sectors of the economy are booming. The return of tourism and houseful boards in Srinagar for the first time since separatist violence affected the region nearly a decade-and-a-half ago is hopefully a portent of more peaceful times.
The return of a newspaper that in recent times has symbolised the freedom of press in India, and the filing of charges in its related cases, even a car rally that began in the oft-ignored northeast and went to a historic ten-nation tour to help establish better relations - were among the reasons that contributed to the burgeoning feeling of optimism that many Indians, especially in urban India felt.
