It’s scorching and the temperature will only rise. Taking respite in your favourite pair of denims may not be such a good idea with the sun grinning at you all day long. Here are a few cool and breezy options to beat the heat outside.

Skirting the issue: Long, frilly and layered cotton skirts are a boon. Go for crushed cotton and you’ll never have to bother ironing your skirt when in a hurry.

Another option is an umbrella skirt or a wraparound, in colourful prints. You will have to spare five minutes to neatly iron them out though. But there’s nothing like a crisp cotton garment while battling a sweaty day.

Shorts statement: Time to bring out those hot pants. Better still, cut short a pair of jeans that you haven’t worn in a long time, keeping the frays for a boho feel. When it comes to cotton trousers, you’re better off sporting a clean look.

Flirty frocks: Go for the classic ones, and experiment with sleeves. Puff-sleeves, strappy shoulders or even a tube dress holds fine. A bow at the yoke or back adds to the girlie demeanour.

Maxi dress: Stylish and comfortable.. a deadly combo. Get one in solids or diminutive prints. Team with a waistcoat for that funky feel.

Desi touch: The new trend is kurtis in linen and mul, with smocking at the back for an ideal fit, teamed with churi pants. Saris with frayed edges are also cool.

Accessories: Thin belts would be ideal for the summers as would light jewellery in bright colours. Don’t overdo the colour bit though.
