HP to invite EOI on helicopter services for tourists

Himachal Pradesh Tourism and Civil Aviation department would soon invite Expression of Interest for operating helicopter services in the state for high-spending tourists and open up remote and tribal areas for tourists.

Tourism Minister G S Bali told reporters here that the state has 56 operational helipads and four helipads were being constructed at Hholi, Hundi, Moral and Sangla and helicopter services could give a major boost to tourism in these areas as road communication was not very reliable and time-consuming.

He said helicopter services would drastically cut travel time enable the tourists to reach remotest destinations without wasting time by travelling for days by road.

Bali said helicopter services would also promote adventure sports like heli-skiing, trekking, mountaineering and gliding.

He said the contract for helicopter services would be awarded through cometitive bids in a completely transparent manner.
