Hrishikesh Mukherjee's funeral likely on Aug 29

The funeral will take place after his US-based son returns to Mumbai late on Monday night, family sources said.

The funeral of legendary filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee is likely to take place on August 29 after his US-based son returns to Mumbai late on Monday, family sources said.

Mukherjee is survived by three daughters and a son. His wife died over 30 years ago.

The eldest daughter, Jaishree Banerjee is settled in Kolkata while the other two Rajshri Bhattacharya and Surashree Chatterjee live in Mumbai.

The son, youngest of the children, is based in Boston and would be reaching Mumbai late on Monday night, the filmmaker's son-in-law Sumit Chatterjee told PTI.

Till August 29 morning, the body would be kept at the Leelavati hospital, he said.
