Hry: Five candidates booked under defacement act

Five candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation elections in different wards here have been booked by the police under the prevention of defacement act on Monday.

Five candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation elections in different wards here have been booked by the police under the prevention of defacement act on Monday.

The cases have been registered on the directions of deputy commissioner (DC) Vikas Gupta after the candidates were found violating the election norms of campaigning.

The erring candidates have been identified as Raj Kumar Sahni from ward number 10, Manju (wife of Bijender Hooda) from ward number 6, Sarita Devi (wife of Ramesh) from ward number 7, Santosh Dalal (daughter of Balbir Dalal) from ward number 7 and Manju (wife of Davinder) from ward number 6.
The registration of case under the defacement act can attract a fine of Rs10,000 and a jail term of six months.
