ECO VISION – 2007, the fourth Annual Inter-School Paper Presentation Competition will be organised by HT-PACE, The Newspaper in Education Programme of Hindustan Times on January 20 at LCA Auditorium in association with Environmental Planning Coordination Organisation (EPCO).
This will be followed by a Talk Show in association with the NGO Samarthan on the topic “Development in Bhopal under the guidelines of JNNURM”. A team of two students will represent their school in the paper presentation competition which promises cash prizes for the winners and gifts for all participants.
They will present a PowerPoint Presentation on the topics “Bhopal – A Global Environment City” and “Sustainable Development of the Growing City – Bhopal”.
On being asked as to why was Bhopal chosen for this dream project, EPCO Research Officer Lokendra Thakkar said, “It was chosen as it has natural resources, natural beauty and has the potential for being transformed into a Global Environment City which is self-sustained in itself in all aspects”.
Bhopal City is been projected as a “Global Environment City” due to its rich natural legacy. Bhopal needs major investments in water supply, sewerage, solid waste management and drainage to reach the specified global standards. The initiative in this direction is proposed to be taken using the JNNURM.
HT-PACE, in association with EPCO and Samarthan, has chalked out this event with a view to sensitise the communities regarding “I belong to Bhopal”, which will eventually transform the City into the globally peaceful and happy city. This paper presentation will form a basis for the development initiative by EPCO.
The Talk Show will feature a discussion among students, active citizens and environmentalists with a view to sensitise the communities regarding developmental aspects pertaining to the City of Bhopal
