The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) said that the total amount including arrears due to be paid by Huda has exceeded R3.5 crore and a notice has been sent in this regard.

“There was some objection from Huda pertaining to some error in the bill, which we have already corrected. We are now asking them to pay the bills,” said Subhash Deswal, superintending engineer, DHBVN.

Deswal told HT that all dues have been recovered from various other government departments such as the Haryana Police, Mini Secretariat and courts through negotiations and persuasions but Huda has not paid the bill for very a long time.

"We took up the matter with the Huda administrator who has given us the assurance that it will soon be paid. But I don't know what does it mean when he says ‘soon’,” Deswal said.

A senior Huda official, however, said: “These things happen in the normal course.” He also denied a newspaper report that the department has been threatened of power cut by the DHBVN.

The DHVBN also said the report was not true.

"We can't cut the power supply to Basai water treatment plant but we will pursue with Huda to recover the dues for sure," said Deswal.
