Hundreds attend Balaji temple car festival

Car festival was conducted at Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathy Perumal temple, considered another Tirupati.

Hundreds of devotees from various parts of Tamil Nadu thronged the ancient Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathy Perumal temple, considered as another Tirupati, to participate in the annual car festival) as part of the ongoing 'Brahmotsavam' near Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday morning.

The devotees, braving the hot sun, pulled the decorated temple car for a procession of the deities Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathy, adorned with an armour made in gold and his consorts Sri Devi and Sri Bhoodevi through the main streets around the temple, amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by the temple priests.

Special poojas and other rituals were conducted in the temple. Philanthropists had organised Annadanams to mark the occasion.
