It wasn't the sight of Himesh Reshammiya taking his cap off that evoked surprise in Aap kaa Surroor. It was Hanssika, his love interest in the film.

Earlier seen in films like Jaago and Koi Mil Gaya, the former child artiste has made a comeback, and doesn't quite look her age. Google tells us she's only 15 years old! We seek a confirmation:

So, how old are you?
I am 16 and studying in the eleventh standard at the Poddar International School.

Weren't you sceptical about playing a character much older than your age?
Do you think I look my age in the film? That will answer your question. Anyway, the camera adds a few pounds and makes an actress look older.

How did acting happen?
It started when I was 10.. my mother discovered that I could act. She had a few contacts in the industry and that started my career. I took a break at 13 to concentrate on studies. Now I'm back.

Is this your first time as a lead heroine?
The Telugu film Desamuduru earlier this year was my debut as a leading lady. I played the role of a sanyasini. It is a super hit in the south and has completed a 150-day run in movie halls. Starting out with a Telugu film was a conscious decision. I first wanted to polish and perfect my acting skills before entering Bollywood.

Looking at yourself on screen, which areas do you feel you still need to work on?
I definitely have to lose some weight. Every actress can find flaws in their portrayal of a particular character. I wouldn't like to discuss mine.. they are only for my mother and myself to know.

Do you feel older than your age?
I might have played the heroine in a film but I am still like any other teenager, you see. I am just a different person in front of the camera.

Is it true that you called Mallika Sherawat‘aunty' on the sets and rubbed her the wrong way?
Why would I call Mallikaji my ‘aunty'? It's just a rumour. She was such a delight on the sets and she's very professional. I learnt a lot from her. There is absolutely no reason why I should speak to her in an uncomplimentary way .
