Rahul, the latest member of the Gandhi family to join politics, said he should not be seen as the future prime minister of the country.
Rahul Gandhi, the Congress candidate from Amethi, on Monday ruled out the possibility of becoming the prime minister of the country.
Rahul, the latest member of the Gandhi family to join politics, said he should not be seen as the future prime minister of the country.
"If I win the election, I would like to be regarded as a member of the Amethi Parliamentary constituency," he said.
Asked about a possible alliance with the Samajwadi Party, Rahul said he was "quite young" in the party to comment on these matters. "Senior party leaders will take a decision in this regard," he said.
Refusing to comment on the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee raising the 'foreign origin' issue, he said, "Vajpayee is the Prime Minister of the country and we pay regards to him. It is a tradition in my family to pay respect to the senior and elder people so I would not comment on this".
