Prakash Jha is returning to television serials with a vengeance. He is producing a mega-serial called Bahubali for Doordarshan with Mukesh Tiwari, Vishnu Sharma and Dayashankar Pandey.
Plans are also on to revive the popular TV serial Mungherilal ke Haseen Sapne. It will be titled Naye Mungheri Ki Naye Sapne. In lieu of Raghubir Yadav who made the role famous, auditions are on for a new actor to do the eponymous role.
" I think a new face will be best. Of course, Rajpal Yadav would have been good for the role. But he is a very busy actor and I don't want to take obligations from anyone. I cannot see myself asking him for favours," says Jha.
He has produced Khoya Khoya Chand and Dil Dosti etc, but as a director, Jha has been inactive since Aparahan released two years ago.
Prakash Jha admits that is because of his 24 x 7 involvement in the politics of Jharkhand and Bihar. In the same breath, he says that he is keen on returning to direction with a film titled Rajneeti as soon as possible.
Ajay Devgan will be in the film which has been written as a political satire. Earlier Jha directed Devgan in Dil Kya Kare, GangaaJal and Apaharan in the main lead.
Nana Patekar will also be in Rajneeti in a vital role as he was in Aparahan.
His political agenda apart, Jha is working on four more scripts. His production house aims to make at least five films a year. The average budget for each film will be in the vicinity of Rs 8 crore.
Jha points out that Nana Patekar will direct a film for him.
