Ranbir-Deepika love affair may be the talk of the town these days but director Siddharth Anand whose film Bachna Ae Hasino features the couple says he did not try to cash in on their off-screen chemistry in the film.
"I did not exploit Ranbir-Deepika off-screen chemistry. Its a team effort. A captain needs help from every team member and not some of them," says the director.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the film also stars Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and character artist Hiten Paintal in an important role. And Siddharth is pretty happy by the work of his cast.<b1>
"I am a tough taskmaster. But fortunately, I had actors who could understand and compliment me," he says.
Talking about the film's story, Anand says, "It's a story of a man named Raj and the three different women who enter his life when he is 16, 24 and 30".
He says that Ranbir was his first choice for the role of 'Raj' in the movie.
"I needed someone who could play 16 and 30 at the same time. So, from the onset, it was Ranbir. And I knew he is a good actor," says the young director who is working with Yash Raj banner for the third time.
Siddharth had earlier director Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum for Yash Raj.
The movie has a total budget of around 19 crore rupees and no Hindi movie has been shot in so many foreign locations before, according to him.
"I do not think any Hindi film ever before has been shot in so many cities abroad like Zurich, Sydney and 15 cities from Italy alone," Anand says.
When asked about so many foreign locations in the movie, he says, "Its an effortless movie. Since the story demanded, so the movie travels to so many cities around the world."
Siddharth dismisses the argument that there were deliberate attempts to release the film on Independence day.
"Yash Raj releases films with a gap of around a month or two. So, its just a coincidence" he clarifies.
Incidentally, the film brings three sons Ranbir, Siddharth and Hiten Paintal together, after their fathers worked together almost 30 years before in the movie Duniya Meri Jeb Mein in 1979.
Siddharth father, Bitto Anand had produced the film which starred Rishi Kapoor and veteran comedian Paintal as well.
The young director had some words of praise for Hiten Paintal too.
"He is an underrated at present and has a great career ahead as character artist. He will definitely surprise you all with his performance."
When asked that how does he handle films at such a young age, he says," Well, its talent that matters and not age. I have made three films till now. I think its state of mind and confidence to handle the project that matters".
