"My mother stands for a certain set of values. She strives to uphold them in her life and every step that she has taken has been in accordance to them", she told reporters soon after Congress chief took oath as Member of Lok Sabha.

Gandhi, who had earlier resigned her Lok Sabha seat in the wake of office of profit controversy was re-elected from Rae Bareli and took oath on day.

Priyanka and her husband Robert Vadra watched Sonia taking oath from the visitors' gallery.

Priyanka said her mother's victory in Rae Bareli was an endorsement of those values by the people of India. "I am very proud of her, proud of my brother and also proud of the people of Rae Bareli for endorsing her," she said.
