I-T sleuths swoop on saree trader

According to information, the first team of officials raided the house of the trader in Bhelupur area in the early hours of Friday. Around the same time, another team reached the factory for checking.

The officials proceeded to the trader’s residence and from there they took him to his office-cum-shop in Thatheri Bazar area for checking of documents and the ledger. It is said that the firm had expanded its saree business with the brand name of ‘Sagar Sarees’. The details of the raid were awaited.

Two women run over: TWO LADIES were crushed to death by a speeding bus in Kaithi area under the Chaubeypur police station on Friday. Cops arrested the driver and seized the bus at Saidpur. One of the deceased has been identified as Marzadi Devi (60). According to information, a bus on its way from Varanasi to Ghazipur hit the woman, who died on the spot. The driver, while trying to flee the scene, ran over another woman who was crossing the road. She also died on the spot. Later, acting on a tip-off, cops of Saidpur police station caught the fleeing bus driver.

The locals agitated over the accident, blocked the road on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway for a few hours.
