IAF aces exercise in Singapore

The IAF move is part of the ongoing Indo-Singapore defence cooperation initiative.

As part of the ongoing Indo-Singapore defence cooperation initiative, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in air exercises in the island-nation for the first time.

The IAF has sent its Mirage-2000 and Jaguar fighter aircraft to take on Singapore Air Force's F-16s at the Payalibar air base. Dubbed Sindex-03, the air exercise was kicked off on December 6 and will last till December 20. An IAF spokesperson said Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi visited the air base on Monday and interacted with fighter pilots from both sides.

Group Captain Sandeep Chhabra is commanding the IAF contingent. Recently, Singapore Air Force had sent its F-16s to partake in air exercises with India at the Kalaikunda air base in West Bengal.
